What is Fiona Grace Photography

It all started when…

I graduated high school I had big dreams of becoming a movie director. I had just taken a summer course about film and photography in high school that sparked my love for this art. But my love for media didn’t start there. If I really look at when it started it was when I was no more than ten years old. I was constantly creating stories and exploring the great outdoors (our backyard) and my mom put a camera in my hand. I filmed everything I could find and I absolutely loved it. I can’t tell you how many cameras I broke but my mom never stopped giving me them.

When I got to high school I continued my passion for film and photography through a media program our high school provided. I made short films and styled photoshoots but it wasn’t until I graduated that I finally had enough money to buy myself a nice camera. I started a senior photography service for my high school and began to fall in love with portrait photography. I started a small business and this is what occupied most of my time with the camera.

Although I loved taking senior photos, I missed the creativity of film. Later that year my friend asked if I could shoot a wedding video for her cousins wedding. I was ecstatic and told them I would do it for free! After I made their wedding short film the family loved it so much they insisted on paying me. This is when I realized what I was being called to do. I was being called to make beautiful art from peoples real life moments. I had always dreamed of being a director but this was even better because nothing was staged; it was all just genuine love.

Through word of mouth I got asked to shoot more weddings, some videography some photography, but all the same ignited a flame in me for this career.

Over the three years I have had my business I have also been a full-time student at Northern Kentucky University. I have had to limit the amount of weddings I can shoot because of the intense workload i’ve had. However, with graduation quickly approaching I am excited to say that I will be starting full-time in 2020 and I can’t wait to see where this adventurous career takes me!
